Cheer Directors- Coach Tanya Downs and Coach Ann Rodgers
The coaching Staff will be evaluating applicants throughout the tryout week and will select candidates for teams based on performance (ability to perform cheers and chants at try-outs), motions (placement, sharpness), dance, showmanship, voice, jumps and flexibility, tumbling (if candidates have it), attitude, teamwork, work ethic, grade level, teacher recommendations. Every effort will be made to place a cheerleader with his/her appropriate grade level, but we do leave the option open to move younger cheerleader up if a situation calls for that move to occur. Rising seniors can only be considered for a Varsity squad, while 9th grade students will only be considered for the JV or 9th Grade squad. The needs for each team will be evaluated and the candidates will be placed on teams based on the Coaches criteria. Previous participation in the Cheer Lions program does not guarantee a spot on one of our 2021-2022 squads.
1. Have passed 3 out of 4 classes in the Spring 2021 semester & be on track to graduate. Participants that make a squad must also remain academically eligible based on their spring grades in order to cheer during the 2021-2022 school year.
2. Have a valid Gwinnett County Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Consent & Insurance Form on DragonFly. This has to be completed prior to April 12nd. You will not be allowed to participate in tryouts if this isn’t done.
